Things to note before you start

Please note that the Zoom polls:

  • must be set up by the Host in the web interface, but once this is done, they can then be used by Co-hosts and Alternate hosts;
  • are connected to the Zoom meeting, therefore, they cannot be re-used and must be freshly set up for each meeting;
  • can be pre-assigned, but only by the Host by going to the web interface, selecting a meeting and then adding the ‘Poll’ option to it. Once this is done, an Alternate host will be able to open and/or use this feature;
  • can be set up within the meeting by the Host by clicking on the ‘Meeting’ ribbon and then selecting ‘Polls’, which will take you to the web interface as above and allow you to create and use a poll within the session; and
  • are not available for participants who would join the meeting through a web browser or by Chromebook as it is only supported in the installed Zoom application.

Consider using an alternative such as Mentimeter. Mentimeter has a wider range of polls, are more interesting and can be used multiple times.
