Dependent on the type of Teams meeting you are holding, the recording workflow will be different.
How do I record from Teams to Panopto?
If your session is labelled as ‘Online’ in the timetable, there is an automated end to end process for recording sessions and transferring them to Panopto module folders
Online timetabled session recordings will…
- start automatically when the session is started from a link in the timetable (this can be stopped, but please remember to start the recording again)
- automatically be transferred to the module folder in Panopto that matches the module code linked to your timetabled session
- not be visible to students via the meeting recap in Teams
- not be visible to students in the DLE until you approve it in the Panopto module folder
How do I record to Panopto if my online teaching session isn’t on the timetable?
If you have been given an alternative method for getting an ‘online’ Teams session link (through discussion with the Zoom to Teams project team). The process will be the same as for online timetabled sessions.
Recording a Teams session you have created yourself using Outlook or a Teams calendar
Recordings will:
- go to the organisers OneDrive account
- be visible to everyone in the meeting at the end of the session via the meeting recap or via their shared OneDrive folder (organisers can remove the view permissions from OneDrive and limit the time the recordings are visible, but this can only be done manually after the end of the session)
- Be able to be moved manually from OneDrive to Panopto where required, if the session is teaching and learning related
Recording breakout rooms
Although breakout rooms can be recorded, we recommend against this unless there is a specific rationale which is explained to students.
Breakout room recordings will…
- Need to be started by someone with adequate permissions in each room
- Be saved into the OneDrive of the person starting the recording
- Not be transferred to Panopto
