Moodle rubric tools
- Rubric
- Marking guide
A Moodle rubric
- Requires a score per criteria
- Can have an optional comment box for each criteria
- Can have mixed criteria scoring
- Can be used to create a pass/fail rubric
- Can’t be used for qualitative rubrics
A Moodle marking guide – allows for a range by using a max score per criteria – uses a different format to the rubric tool
Turnitin Rubric tools
- Standard rubric (scale values per column and weighted criteria rows) often referred to as scored and weighted rubric and automatically totals scores
- Custom rubric (allows any value in any cell). Automatic totalling of scores
- Qualitative rubric (doesn’t require a definitive score per scale or criteria). Often used where you want to choose a score from a range, such as degree classification boundaries etc. This does not give scores or automated totals. Markers will need to assign an overall grade manually.
A Turnitin grading form – can be scored or not scored. Automatic totalling of scores when scores are enabled – uses a different format to the rubric tool.
