Editing captions in Panopto

Captions are automatically created for your recordings within Panopto. You will need to check these for accuracy when publishing.

To edit your captions in Panopto:

  1. Click on the edit icon from the thumbnail view

  1. Your video will open in the edit window. Select the captions tab on the left side of the edit window. This brings up all of the automatic captions which have been created for you by Panopto.

  1. You can now click directly into the text to edit for accuracy.

  1. Once you have made the changes you wish to the text. Click ‘Apply’ in the top right of the edit window.

  1. A pop up window will confirm that the changes have been applied to the video and will ask you to confirm you wish to close the editor.

Please note:
When making edits to your video your audio and associated captions will also be deleted for the section of video you have removed. This is not visible until you have applied the edit. Check it by replaying the video once you have applied the edit.
