How to import a file into a Mentimeter presentation

Mentimeter is a cloud-based polling tool in which you can interact with your students through presentations in real-time using a mobile phone or other device connected to the internet. It also allows you to upload other files to your presentation, such as a PowerPoint presentation, Google Slides, or a PDF file.

In this article, we will show you how to import a presentation or a PDF file into Mentimeter.

How to import a file into a Mentimeter presentation

Please note that we do not recommend installing the Mentimeter plugin in Microsoft PowerPoint. For more information, please contact the Digital Education team.

To import a file into a Mentimeter presentation, please follow the steps below:

  1. Please open your Mentimeter presentation, and then select the ‘Import’ menu from the left-hand navigation bar.

  1. A new window will pop up where you can drag your file to or alternatively, you can also browse between the files that are stored on your machine if you click on the ‘browse files’ button. Please note that the maximum file size is 80 MB and the allowed slides of a presentation can not exceed 100. Please also note, the lecturer notes of a PowerPoint presentation will be lost once it has been uploaded to Mentimeter, therefore, you will need to manually copy them over to the presenter notes of the tool.

  1. Once you selected a file from your machine, the converting process will begin which might take a couple of minutes, depending on the file size.

  1. Once it has been successfully uploaded and converted, it will then appear as an image on the last side of your presentation. This slide type is automatically going to be a ‘Document’. Please note that you will not be able to edit its content, you can only resize it if you click on the ‘Edit’ button as shown below.
