What are the Minimum Module requirements?

The minimum module requirements are a set of criteria that all DLE courses should meet. Meeting this baseline ensures all students have the information they need, providing a consistent experience for all modules.

‘Module information’ block

The ‘Module information’ block provides the basic information about the module in a standardised format, and all the following elements must be populated to conform to the minimum module requirements. Luckily some of these are populated automatically from UNIT-e, but if found to be wrong, they must be changed in UNIT-e first.

The pre-populated sections are in italics below.

  • Module name and code
  • Credit weighting
  • Module lead with contact details
  • Schedule of Summative Assessment (exam, coursework, practice)
  • All teaching staff (will automatically populate when added to course)
  • Module aims and assessed learning outcomes
  • Schedule of Teaching activities
  • Schedule of Summative Assessment

Core Moodle elements

As well as the ‘Module information’ block, there are certain elements that must always be
available in a module course.

  • Module ‘Announcements’ forum
  • Key teaching materials

Some important teaching elements are stored outside of Moodle and are linked from or
embedded into Moodle

  • Electronic reading lists – created in Leganto, and then linked to the course
  • Link to students e-portfolio if used
