{"id":1691,"date":"2021-02-26T15:28:37","date_gmt":"2021-02-26T14:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digi-ed.uk\/support\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=1691"},"modified":"2022-03-23T16:46:29","modified_gmt":"2022-03-23T15:46:29","slug":"creating-an-accessible-tagged-pdf","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/digi-ed.uk\/support\/article\/creating-an-accessible-tagged-pdf\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating an accessible tagged PDF"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>An accessible&nbsp;tagged&nbsp;PDF is a PDF document that can be read and accessed by people with disabilities, primarily for the vision-impaired that may use assistive technology&nbsp;such as screen readers&nbsp;to read the file through text-to-speech or a Braille printout.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A PDF document is considered accessible only if it meets a set of accessibility guidelines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can easily create a tagged PDF by changing a small setting in word before you save it as a PDF.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Once you have created your word file and you are ready to save as PDF, go to&nbsp;<strong>File<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<strong>Save As&nbsp;<\/strong>and choose where you want to save the file on your device.&nbsp;Then change the&nbsp;<strong>Save As type<\/strong>&nbsp;to be&nbsp;<strong>PDF<\/strong>.
